Podcast Training for and by sex workers in San Francisco

Hey all, apologies for posting something San Francisco-centric, but in the interest of getting the word out, I couldn’t not share this with Bound, not Gagged. Please pass on freely!

Social Media Training for and by Sex Workers

(Text version of this flier after the jump; reblog and share over email and boards!)

sex workers take back the mic

are you sick of hearing sensational stories about adult industry workers in the news? have you ever wanted to take back the mic from the media and tell the world your own way?

St. James Infirmary, San Francisco’s community health clinic for sex workers, is offering intensive, hands-on training in producing a podcast (an online radio show) for & by adult service providers.

Together we’ll learn how to do interviews, use audio recording gear, & how to start a blog to promote the shows we make. Each participant will be asked to attend 3 training sessions and to interview 1 or 2 people of their choice about any topic related to our industry and community. Participants will be asked to commit to about 30 hours to this project. Equipment will be provided.

Want to make media that really tells the truth?
Orientation: 5/20, 6 – 7pm at SJI / Training May 27, 29 and 30th

RSVP by 5/20: socialmedia AT stjamesinfirmary DOT org.

Male, female and transgender providers are all encouraged to join us, no matter what kind of work you do in the business.

But I’ve gotta remember (and stick to) my commitment to not take on any more projects for the rest of the year. I just wish I didn’t feel like other people won’t step up. *sigh* (tags: sexwork podcasting activism socialmedia awesome) […]

  4. This is a great project. Is there anything I can do to help other than mentioning it on my blog and podcast?
