Most of the Farley Hughes disciples couldn't care less about prostitutes victimized by crime, or doing the right thing about holding the police accountable, or even more heresy, holding themselves accountable when their toxic activism harms the people they are alleging to protect.

The goal for most of them seems to be to advance their politics and activist careers and ideological purity and whatever collateral damage comes along.

When it comes time to be accountable, anyone challenging the results and harm of their activism immediately gets labeled as attacking the poor rad fems in their tiny corner of the internet................

yeah K, I hear you and this ability of the law enforcement to be arbitrary in their enforcement was specific language I used in Prop K because it's a problem everywhere. And those anti trafficking hacks couldn't even get on board with that.
I have footage of Eileen Herndadz, a black women and former president of the National Organization for Women stating publicly at the San Francisco Commission on the Status of Women that we prostitutes are victims and we need to be arrested!

Never once have I heard these 'feminist' speak out against the violence of discrimination against us nor have they ever stood with us and hold accountable this type of law enforcement misconduct.

This is why I believe our next political move has be equal protection under the law. We have to demand to specifically be included in equal protection in hate crime legislation, employment, housing, child custody, education no matter what country we're from, our ability to speak english, whether they do so by choice, circumstance, or coercion.

While I agree race and class are a huge part of the issue, I respectfully point out that the stigmatization of prostitutes is the larger issue here.

This monster previously spent time in prison for strangulation and attempted murder, a sex crime which required him to register as a sex offender. He had multiple complaints lodged against him-three to be exact. Three times woman went to the police to say they had been strangled and that he tried to kill them. Police pressed charges, but the DA never followed through on prosecuting him. This guy did not "elude authorities," he had there full cooperation and assistance in continuing his murder spree. The police department, his parole officer, and the District Attorney were all aware that women were being assaulted, but did not think they could press charges and make them stick.

I submit to you that this had much more to do with a "certain type of woman" and her lack of "credible" testimony.

"Any other survivors need to know “no matter what walk of life you chose, were actually pushed into, you’re still a person..."

Of course we're people. We KNOW we're people! It's everone else who doesn't think we are. And this is the result.

Thanks for sharing Kitten.

As much as I agree that victims who are sex workers often dismissed and/or punished by the authorities to the point that many don't even bother reporting the crime or seeking justice (as in "Craigslist killer" case), I think that this case is a larger issue of class and race.

Crimes happened in a poor black neighborhood, against poor black women, some of them drug addicts and runaways. I wish this were the only case in which police didn't lift a finger to solve crime in such community...

It's becoming more common in America that anyone who is below a certain income level is considered an unperson, regardless of race. That needs to change.
