Proposition K is gaining momentum in San Francisco! You Can Help!

Come to San Francisco to walk precincts and attend events with ‘Yes on K!’ We have a ton of stuff planned to get out the word and keep the “Yes on K” message loud and visible throughout the city.

Proposition K in San Francisco calls for the city to end the harmful practice of arrest-based approaches to sex work. Sex workers and supporters are the major driving force behind this ballot initiative and the ‘Yes on K’ team is working hard to ensure that sex workers’ voices are heard during the election. We need your help to continue the momentum and to raise even more support from allies and endorsers! The city of San Francisco is in general extremely supportive of sex workers’ rights. Our opposition is working to put spin on this measure to imply that supporting sex workers means supporting violence and traffickers. We know that’s not true! We need your support to spread the word and inform the progressive people of San Francisco that by supporting our rights, they’re supporting a more effective approach to ending abuses in the sex industry.

There are many ways for you to help!

1- Make a donation! We desperately need to get more literature in Spanish and Chinese as well as in English. Time is running out for us to get material printed, please help by donating here.

2- Stay informed! Get on the mailing list by sending an email to: carol@bayswan.org
3- Put a window sign up in a visible part of your house! Give some leaflets to your friends! Email slava8@ymail.com to get material
4- Join the local core organizing team! We still need a few committed activists and supporters to join us for our weekly planning meetings and to help coordinate volunteers. Email propkvolunteers@gmail.com if you can help.
5- Host volunteers! If you already live in San Francisco or nearby and have an extra bed, couch or mattress that someone can sleep on, contact stacey@desireealliance.org with info about the dates you can host and how many people.
6- Come to SF from out of town between October 24th and November 3rd!

Local volunteers in San Francisco are opening up their homes to volunteers from outside of the city to come join the campaign! So if you have a few days or a weekend and can get yourself out to SF, we’ll put you up while you’re here!
The most critical time to come out and help is between October 24th-November 3rd. During these dates we will have volunteer trainings, literature drops, precinct walks, parties an historic town hall meeting at the Unitarian Church and more! This is an opportunity for you to bring the skills that you have to our campaign as much as an opportunity for you to learn new campaign skills!
If you’d like to come out and you need a place to stay, email stacey@desireealliance.org to be paired up with a local host in San Francisco. Include information about your housing needs such as allergies to pets, traveling with children, the dates you can come and other key info.
